Our shop stocks all the hard to find sweets from yesteryear that can not always be found in conventional shops, the sweets that many people thought they had stopped making.
We are constantly finding  types sweets that were found in the corner shop of the 80s bringing back those childhood memories.
Although we stock many of the new lines the old favourites are still the most popular.
Both the young and young at heart love to visit our sweet shops.

Our Hand Made Sweets  selection  has a family connection  going back to the 1920's. My grandfather made all the old fashioned  sweets for many years, sweets like Cough Candy, and Pear Drops.
He made his little works of art in Wigan. To earn a shilling, every Saturday he took the train to the famous Lancashire market of Ormskirk with his sweets in a suitcase and quickly sold out!
Each batch of sweets gets personal attention and we pride ourselves on the quality of sweets produced. 

Cinder Toffee
The lightness is produced by the addition of Bicarbonate of soda.
Traditionally cinder toffee is golden coloured hard and crunchie, although traditional  cinder toffee is still popular, chocolate  cinder toffee is now available.

Chocolate
Chocolate was first made in 1847. and is as popular today as its ever been. In order to be labelled chocolate, the chocolate it must contain cocoa solids.Chocoate Raisins and Chocoate Nuts, made by Carol Anne are made with quality milk chocolate. Glisten also use quality chocolate in the manufacture of chcolate mini eggs.

Mint Humbugs
A real Lancashire favourite.
Traditionally,  simple boiled sweets made with oil of peppermint, other varieties available now have a chewy centre. 

Floral Gums
Perfumed sweets as popular today as they were in the 80s. Tasting exactly the same.

Cherry Lips
Old fashioned sweets, perfumed like Floral Gums.

Barley Sugar
Traditionally Barley sugar were made by boiling sugar in water that had been used to boil Barley.

Liquorice Torpedoes
Only Haribo seem to be able to produce Torpedoes how they should be, the ones we used to buy from the corner shop.

Toffee
Walkers produce toffee using full cream milk,dairy butter, and fourths sugar producing the true English taste.

Liquorice
Liquorice comfits, Liquorice allsorts,
Pontefract cakes, Liquorice cuttings all contain natural block liquorice, with the addition of gelatine & glucose to give the sweets softness.
Many novelties like bootlaces are not true liquorice.

 Jellies Sweets & Gums
From Marshmallows and soft fruit jellies, to wine gums, gelatine in conjunction with sugar produce the many varieties of jellies & gums, depending on the amount of gelatine in the sweets.

Original Lions wine gums, Lions midget gems, Lions fruit salad contain high quality gelatine, resulting in the best quality gums.

Lions original recipe Midget gems, fantastic fruit flavours, but the black ones still have the great Liquorice taste.

Sweets may contain traces of nuts.
We are unable to guarantee that any weigh out sweets are nut free, due to the weigh out process.
